Finding your wedding dress can be a rather daunting experience so here are a few tips to finding that perfect dress for your figure.

Hourglass

You have a slim waist with a well-endowed bust and curvier hips.

Dress dos: A mermaid gown will have a slimming effect and also show off those curves. Another way to flatter your curves would be a high-waisted A-line dress with a low neckline.

Dress don'ts: A slim or slinky fit will cling and may add extra inches that aren't actually there. Also, don't add extra weight onto your bust or hips as this will outbalance your in-proportion figure.

Dress ideas: Our 'Ellie' gown is a perfect example for an hourglass figure.

Pear-Shaped

You have hips slightly wider than your bust with dainty shoulders and a small waist.

Dress dos: A dropped-waist or a strapless ball gown will emphasis your top half taking the eye away from your hips. An off the shoulder neckline will keep the attention on your upper body also.

Dress don'ts: A slim-fitting dress will make you appear out of proportion whilst a v-neck will draw the eye down.

Dress ideas: 'Eliza' will draw the eye upwards whilst slimming the hips and showing off your small waist.

Straight Body Shape

You don't really have a waist so you are straight up and down.

Dress dos: A sheath style that fits your shape will flatter a tiny frame whilst a ball gown with a fitted bodice and fuller skirt will create the illusion of you having curves. Embroidery and beading can also give an illusion of a curvy silhouette.

Dress don'ts: Avoid column dresses as this will hide your waist. Strapless dresses will make you look like you have broader shoulders.

Dress ideas: 'Ursula' with a fitted bodice, high neckline and fuller skirt will add shape to a slender figure.

Triangle Shaped

Your shoulders are wider than your hips.

Dress dos: A V-neck dress will help to cover up wider shoulders or thick straps will help to narrow your shoulders. Adding sleeves or bolero will cover up the tops of your arms and are also great for winter weddings. Add some detail to the middle or bottom of the dress to bring the eye down from your shoulder.

Dress don'ts: Puffed sleeves, off-the-shoulder and halter necklines will attract attention to your shoulders. Keep away from embroidery on the upper part of the dress.

Dress ideas: 'Sage' with the wide straps and detail around your waist will draw your eye away from the shoulders.

Apple Shaped

You have fuller breasts, a bit of a tummy and curvy hips and bum.

Dress dos: An empire line will make your waist appear smaller whilst a ball gown will cover up the areas you are maybe not so keen on.

Dress don'ts: A princess style dress will draw attention to your stomach whilst a sheath dress will make you appear larger than you are.

Dress ideas: 'Maria' will cover those problem areas that you have.

Petite brides

5'1" and under and you have a tiny frame.

Dress dos: Simple without much frill and detail will elongate your figure. A tea-length dress can look fab on a shorter frame.

Dress don'ts: Ballgowns will drown you and make it look like the dress is wearing you.

Dress ideas: 'Bea' has just enough detail to be pretty but the shape still elongates your body.

Taller brides

You have the height of a catwalk model

Being tall you are very lucky as practically all styles of dresses flatter a taller frame. The only style to maybe stay away from is an empire line as they can appear tent-like.

Dress ideas: 'Alanis' will look stunning on a tall curvaceous frame.
